“Our favourite!” The 2 hour Storms River Kayak & Lilo Adventure is our most popular adventure activity in Tsitsikamma National Park! If you are keen to explore deeper into the Storms River Gorge in Tsitsikamma, and experience the long, deep, quiet pools, then the Kayak and Lilo trip is for you!
We paddle from the Harbour next to the small beach across the ocean, then under the Suspension Bridge and up the beautiful Storms River Mouth. Please note that if the sea is rough, you have to hike to the Suspension Bridge (along a boardwalked trail), where we then hike along the river from the suspension bridge up to the jetty to where you then get on onto your kayaks. This 1km hike takes about 30 min
This is where the true Kayaking adventure begins – paddling the Storms River, the pinnacle of Tsitsikamma National Park. After waving to all the tourists photographing you from the Suspension Bridge, we continue the kayak trip up the Stormsriver. We paddle right into the bats cave and spend time gazing up at the magnificent and spectacular cliffs all around us, all from the comfort of our double sit-on-top kayaks.
At the low-water point we disembark our kayaks and we jump on our unique Lilo’s. (a Lilo is an inflatable mattress that we’ve had specially made for this trip). From here we walk and float over a short section of rocks and simply wade deeper up the river on the Lilo’s. What a stunning view it is, laying on a Lilo at water level, and gazing up to cliffs that touch the sky! At reaching a certain point, we simply turn our Lilo’s around and float back down river to our Kayaks!

De kayak tour was erg leuk, ook vanwege het feit dat je een stukje over de zee moest varen die op dat moment vrij wild was. Dat maakte het spannend. De gidsen waren leuk en zorgzaam. - Caroline Alting Siberg
It was an amazing experience-fun and beautiful scenery. Both the guides were professional , patient and kept us safe .anyone visiting Storms River should do this activity - Shayda Goga
Absolutely loved the canoeing experience! ??[?] From the moment we set off, it was both peaceful and exhilarating. Gliding across the water gave us a perfect balance of adventure and relaxation, with stunning scenery all around. The calm stretches allowed time to take in nature, while the gentle challenges kept it engaging and fun. It's an amazing way to disconnect from daily stress and reconnect with the outdoors. Whether you're a beginner or more experienced, canoeing offers something for everyone. It's well worth trying---refreshing, memorable, and incredibly rewarding. I'd happily do it again and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a unique outdoor experience! The staff were also amazing and our tour guides where the best. Love you guys Jessica - Wendy Jessica Schwulst
The kayak and lilo experience was absolutely amazing! It was so much fun, relaxing, and perfectly balanced with adventure. The water was beautiful, the route was scenic, and the whole activity was well organised. The guides were friendly, professional, and made sure everyone felt safe and comfortable throughout. It was such a refreshing experience and definitely one of the highlights of my trip. I would 100% recommend it to anyone looking for a fun and memorable outdoor activity??? - Nhlakanipho Sibisi
We thoroughly enjoyed our kayaking and lilo experience. My daughter Paige and I decided to give it a try and even though we weren't experienced kayakers, we had so much fun. Both our guides Clinton and Curtlee were fantastic. They were calm, patient, and very funny. They also made us all feel welcome and kept us safe. Be prepared to use muscles you never knew you had and remember to take cash tipping. They honestly deserve good tips. We'll highly recommend this adventure if in Tsitsikama area. - Amanda Botha
