Forest & Ocean

Combo of Storms River Kayak & Lilo and Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour

Storms River Mouth and Tsitsikamma

Come and Experience a World of Diversity in One Forest - A Unique Tsitsikamma Experience You'll Never Forget!!!

Activity Description

“Our favourite!” The 2 hour Storms River Kayak & Lilo Adventure is our most popular adventure activity in Tsitsikamma National Park! If you are keen to explore deeper into the Storms River Gorge in Tsitsikamma, and experience the long, deep, quiet pools, then the Kayak and Lilo trip is for you!

We paddle from the Harbour next to the small beach across the ocean, then under the Suspension Bridge and up the beautiful Storms River Mouth. Please note that if the sea is rough, you have to hike to the Suspension Bridge (along a boardwalked trail), where we then hike along the river from the suspension bridge up to the jetty to where you then get on onto your kayaks. This 1km hike takes about 30 min

This is where the true Kayaking adventure begins – paddling the Storms River, the pinnacle of Tsitsikamma National Park. After waving to all the tourists photographing you from the Suspension Bridge, we continue the kayak trip up the Stormsriver. We paddle right into the bats cave and spend time gazing up at the magnificent and spectacular cliffs all around us, all from the comfort of our double sit-on-top kayaks.

At the low-water point we disembark our kayaks and we jump on our unique Lilo’s. (a Lilo is an inflatable mattress that we’ve had specially made for this trip). From here we walk and float over a short section of rocks and simply wade deeper up the river on the Lilo’s. What a stunning view it is, laying on a Lilo at water level, and gazing up to cliffs that touch the sky! At reaching a certain point, we simply turn our Lilo’s around and float back down river to our Kayaks!

Customer Reviews

Fantastic experience and would do it again in a heartbeat. Our guides Brighton and Norman were really friendly and helpful as well. Definitely suggest signing up for this if you are in the area - worth it! - Jaryd Sage

The experience was amazing and truly unique. It is something that we could not keep from sharing with our friends and family, wanting people to experiencing for themselves. The activities are a bit under-advertised and can be missed with people not frequenting the area. We are from Cape town and was aware of the Zip-line, the bungie jumping and beach locations but only realise the canoeing when we were in the area. What we also saw is that the locals might not be able to afford multiple activities like we did due to the costing(not saying that the costing was to unreasonable). A local and a tourist rate might make the activities more attainable to less fortunate South Africans. - Brendin Louw

Hi. Ek is baie happy met die mense. Die 1 ou wat agter my gesit het was baie wonderlik en goed en baie vriendlik. - Riana Nortje

We absolutely loved the tour - the guides Lisa and Julio were amazing. I would recommend this to anyone visiting the area. If I have a suggestion, it would be to make the kloofing area more accessible - I really wanted to do it but was more afraid of cracking my skull on the way up than doing the actual jump. Sadly, I did not risk it :( - Natasha Kinnear

Had funtastic time. Romeo and Clinton were awesome guides. They ensured that we understood safety briefing. They also everyone made everyone at ease during the kayaking. This is definately must do again with friends. Cliff diving was awesome. - Patrick mongane

Tsitsikamma Canopy Tour is an Award-Winning Canopy Tour company that turns Tourism activities into Tourism experiences! Surrounded by birdlife and giant trees like the Outeniqua Yellowwood, known to us as Uncle Sam who is over 600 years old! One can easily feel like a dwarf standing against it. A short drive into the Tsitsikamma forest and it is time to monkey around!

From the start on the launch platform, a new world unfolds as one gently glides on a steel cable to the first tree platform. All groups are escorted through the forest canopy by a lead guide and a follow guide to ensure your safety as you slide from tree to tree. The platforms built high up in the giant Outeniqua Yellowwoods, provide an unbelievable view of this enchanting new world – any fear of heights is soon lost as you gather in your new surroundings.
